A delightfully light day, just an hour's driving each. It is very characteristic country with the low height trees and lots of scrub.
There is lots more up than we expected. We seemed to be constantly rising from the salt pans/ lakes near Norseman to Kalgoorlie. There are signs everywhere of 'road trains entering'. We think this is a rapid way to develop a mine - dig up ore and transport it by truck to a processing plant.
Big 4 at Kalgoorlie is a simple caravan park, but quite welcome.
Tonight we had tea at De Bernales in Kal. Not exactly up market, although better than singlets and working attire. The Parmas were huge:
It was very windy today - all forecast, but we really noticed a) driving into it and b) in the camper trailer with the canvas flapping. This evening it has quietened as forecast. Next few days should be OK.
Put 30L in at Norseman ($2.02) and then 108L at Kal ($1.93/L). That should get us a fair way.
So another quiet day.
